Why doing it all yourself isn't heroic or clever - it's preventing true growth
I’m an avid “I CAN DO IT MYSELF”-er
(yes - I’m essentially an eternal toddler wanting to do my own shoes, knowing you can do it for me faster and better!)
Plus my head is sometimes so scattered with everything I need to do that slowing it down enough to help someone else take one of my jobs off me effectively feels painful
If I could, I’d keep all my jobs close and just not let anyone else do them
But I know…
That’s not the way to get to the big goals I’ve got before me
it’s not the way to get free nights and weekends where my brain rests and nuts out issues
It’s not the way to have great sleep patterns, have time to eat right or exercise
To have a business that’s thriving, to have a life where I can BREATHE?
I don’t only need to accept help. I need to see it out and help make it possible.
Sarah now has an incredible mind-reading sidekick Virtual Assistant who’s able to help her without huge amounts of prompting - but to get there took work on both sides.
here’s a little excerpt from today’s podcast:
It’s a frank look at what’s holding us back form outsourcing - and while most think it’s about not having enough money to do it, the true is it often comes down to have good systems, processes and a clear plan of how you’re going to communicate with your outsourced support.
Once I realised that the painful slowing of my brain to help provide clear instructions, the commitment to have regular meetings and check ins, and helping give my outsource help more autonomy to “order ME around” to help them do thier job better was going to help clear my brain up, and help me focus on the things I did best?
Well… I never looked back!
I know you’re probably like me, able to do everything
But just because we CAN doesn’t mean we have to
And just because it’s “cheaper” because we are not paying someone else , doesn’t mean it’s good for the future of our business
I know that I’ve been able to grow my business because I stopped trying to carry everything
And that makes paying for support 100% worth it
(Oh and Sarah and I are running a masterclass on May 7th. It’s a precursor to outsourcing - and all about how to identify what activities you are doing that are preventing you from real growth in your business, as well as calculating the true cost to your business and your life. This is a core part of Sarah’s teaching, and I’m so excited she’s sharing it with us. Here’s a wee 20% discount link for you to attend and learn)
